Modern lounge to Victorian Music shop
Modern lounge to Victorian Music shop
The brief was to change a modern lounge to a Victorian music shop. The arrangement of the room had to be practical, furnished sympathetically, understanding the musical art and representing the Victorian style.
A harmony of colour was imperative as a backdrop to the collections of the vintage violins, violas and Cellos.
The windows required opaque drapery to conceal the works but still have natural light in the room. The original carpet was removed and replaced with tiles to achieve the right acoustics in the music room.
I worked with the client to achieve her own vision for the room, a layout that was able to display various size Cellos around the room. The violins also needed to be displayed strategically on the walls. A swivel chair was placed in the middle of the room to enable the customers to try out the instruments.
A circular rug was placed in the centre of the room, in order to compliment the tones given by the instruments. We repurposed a beautiful wooden pole that the client had in her loft; it was a perfect piece to add to the Victorian style. I then sourced a set of neutral curtains that dressed the window beautifully just in time for the opening day!
